Innovation from the start
Founder Mark Bonfigli, owned a small, earth friendly car dealership in Williston, Vermont, called “Earthcars.” In 1997, Mark founded Dealer.com by creating a unique website for the dealership that automatically communicated with customers and kept them informed on potential vehicles for purchase. Early on, Mark embraced the web as a sales tool and took an earth-friendly approach to business (which is also where the term “earthlings” originated for Dealer.com employees). Co-founders Rick Gibbs, Mike Lane, Ryan Dunn, and Jamie LaScolea had banded together to develop the next generation of website marketing solutions that had helped make Earthcars so successful. The founders set out to build the best of breed solutions that could be scaled to any dealership anywhere in the country, and the rest, as they say, is history.
